Emails Overview

Learn about emails in Conversion

Updated this week

Emails are at the core of Conversion. You can send one-time blasts to specific audiences or set up workflow emails that send automatically based on triggers in your workflows.

Types of emails

Blasts

Blasts are one-time emails sent to a select group of people, also known as an audience.

  • Great for announcements, newsletters, and product updates

  • Sent to a defined segment at a specific time

  • Fully customizable with templates, personalization, and snippets

Workflow emails

Workflow emails are sent automatically to contacts as part of a workflow.

  • Great for onboarding, lifecycle nurture, trial conversions, and re-engagement

  • Triggered by user actions, attributes, or timing conditions

  • Personalized dynamically using Magic Blocks, snippets, and enrichment

Who can receive emails?

Conversion only sends emails to subscribed customers.

  • Blasts: Sent to subscribed contacts in the selected audience

  • Workflows: Sent to subscribed contacts who meet the workflow’s entry conditions

This ensures compliance and prevents emails from going to unsubscribed users.

How emails are delivered

Conversion uses Amazon SES to handle email delivery. By default, messages are sent from Conversion’s shared IP pool, but you can configure your own domain and IP pool for greater control.

Default sending

  • Uses Conversion’s shared IP pool

  • Authentication and deliverability handled by Conversion

  • Recommended if you’re just getting started

Custom sending

  • Connect your own verified domain

  • Choose between a shared IP pool or a dedicated IP pool

  • Set up DNS records to authenticate your sending domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

  • Recommended for high-volume senders who want full control over reputation

Setting up email in Conversion

To get started with emails, you’ll need to:

  1. Verify your domain

    • Add DNS records to your domain host.

    • Verification ensures you can send from your domain.

  2. Add a sending address

  3. Choose your IP pool

    • Shared pool (default) or dedicated pool (recommended for scale).

  4. Build your first email

    • Use the drag-and-drop editor or start from a template.

    • Add personalization with snippets, variables, and Magic Blocks.

  5. Send slowly at first

    • If you’re new to Conversion or moving from another provider, we recommend warming up your domain by starting with smaller sends.

Next steps

Once email is set up, you can:

  • Send a blast to your first audience.

  • Add a workflow email to your onboarding or nurture journey.

  • Track performance with real-time analytics on opens, clicks, and conversions.
