Introduction to Emails

Learn about emails in Conversion

Updated yesterday

Emails are at the core of Conversion. You can send one-time blasts to specific audiences or set up workflow emails that send automatically based on triggers in your workflows.

Types of emails

Blasts

Blasts are one-time emails sent to a select group of people, also known as an audience.

  • Great for announcements, newsletters, and product updates

  • Sent to a defined segment at a specific time

  • Fully customizable with templates, personalization, and snippets

Workflow emails

Workflow emails are sent automatically to contacts as part of a workflow.

  • Great for onboarding, lifecycle nurture, trial conversions, and re-engagement

  • Triggered by user actions, attributes, or timing conditions

  • Personalized dynamically using Magic Blocks, snippets, and enrichment

Creating emails

You can create blast emails by clicking "New email" in the top right corner in the emails page.

To create workflow emails, first navigate to the workflow you want to create an email in, drag in a "Send email" node, and create a workflow email from there.

Who can receive emails?

Conversion only sends emails to subscribed customers.

  • Blasts: Sent to subscribed contacts in the selected audience

  • Workflows: Sent to subscribed contacts who meet the workflow’s entry conditions

This ensures compliance and prevents emails from going to unsubscribed users.

How emails are delivered

Conversion is partnered with Amazon SES to handle email delivery. By default, messages are sent from Conversion’s shared IP pool, but you can configure your own domain and IP pool for greater control.

Start sending emails in Conversion

To get started with emails, you’ll need to:

  1. Complete the setup steps in Email Settings. See more information here.

    1. Verify your domain

      1. Add DNS records to your domain host.

      2. Verification ensures you can send from your domain.

    2. Add a sending address

    3. Choose your IP pool

      • Shared pool (default) or dedicated pool (recommended for scale).

  2. Build your first email

    • Use the drag-and-drop editor or start from a template.

    • Add personalization with snippets, variables, and Magic Blocks.

  3. Send slowly at first

    • If you’re new to Conversion or moving from another provider, we recommend warming up your domain by starting with sends to smaller audiences, and work your way up from there.
